Twenty Seven

27On May 20, 2016 e11even 2 will be hosting the opening of a new group exhibition titled 27*. The show’s theme will be based on some of the most famous musicians in history to die at the age of 27. Dozens have prematurely passed away at this age over the years. Curator of the show, Billy Nainiger has limited the number of musicians that will be included as inspiration for the contributing artists. Billy, who also co-owns e11even 2 with Christina Sadowski and R!ch Cihlar has narrowed the long list down to six, giving the show more cohesiveness.

15 artists, mostly based in Cleveland, were asked to create up to 3 pieces each based on Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, and/or Kurt Cobain. These six are widely considered to be the most famous of the “27 Club.” Pieces will range from painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media.

Come check out 27* on May’s Third Friday at e11even 2 in the 78th Street Studios. You will not be disappointed in how these talented Cleveland artists interpret this legendary and short lived group of musicians.
