One Night Only – November 21st 2014: 5-9p

“That rug really tied the room together,” is just one of the many funny and obscure catch phrases from the movie The Big Lebowski, a cult classic. Artist and gallery owner, Billy Nainiger, pulls his inspiration from the Big Lebowski into his next solo exhibition entitled “The Dude Abides.” The Dude Abides will be a one day art exhibition on Friday November 21st from 5-9p, as part of the 3rd Friday Events at 78th Street Studios.

Nainiger says, “I’ve seen the movie probably 50 times, and it’s one of my favorites. Also, the main character (the dude) is one of my favorite lead characters of all time; in movies and in television. I can easily relate to his laid back and carefree nature. It would be nice to go through life like that and not really sweat the small stuff.” Nainiger’s work will reflect numerous aspects of the movie including portraits of the some of the characters and art on bowling pins. Works of art will be mixed media in nature featuring mediums like spray paint, latex paint, and reclaimed pallet wood.

Other items will be featured at the opening reception like: “the rug,” bowling pin art, and more. Guests who come to the opening wearing a bathrobe will receive a FREE gift. This event is free and open to the public for guests 18 and over. Parental Advisory is advised.

It’s Like a Bad B-Movie…. But BETTER!

snapped card It was a dark cool night, the moon was barely peaking through the clouds…. just like the evenings in early October. And then, we “Snapped!” Snapped on the lights that is, and the e11even 2 gallery was illuminated with a Halloween inspired Art exhibition.
Owner and curator Christina Sadowski says “I wanted to merge my favorite holiday and passion for art into one memorable event, so I decided to have a Halloween art show”. Sadowski also mentions that the exhibition will be a little scary, a little funny, and a bit of cute! There will be a variety of mediums represented by nearly 20 artists. Please join the artists and patrons for the opening of Snapped during the 3rd Friday events at 78th Street Studios on October 17th from 5-9p. There will be costumes (feel free to dress up), apple cider, and other elements to make visitors get a full sense of the spirit. This event is free and open to the public.
